The parliamentary panel studying simultaneous-election bills put off its proposed October 6 visit to the Supreme Court. 03Supreme Court pauses fresh KPSC recruitment probe

01September GST collections grow 14.7%

Gross GST collections rose 14.7% from a year earlier to over ₹2.03 lakh crore in September. Domestic receipts grew 10.1%, while import-linked collections rose about 26%. After refunds, net receipts grew 18.1% to over ₹1.76 lakh crore.

02Factory survey rebounds to seven-month high

The HSBC India Manufacturing PMI rose from 52.8 in August to 55.1 in September, its strongest reading in seven months. New orders and production picked up, hiring resumed and export demand strengthened. A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

03UPI daily payments pass 800 million

UPI processed 24.07 billion transactions worth ₹29.37 lakh crore in September, according to NPCI data reported by CNBC-TV18. Average daily transactions reached about 802 million. Monthly totals were lower than August, but September had one fewer day.

01Passengers and crew save FlyDubai flight after cockpit attack

Passengers subdued a co-pilot after he stabbed the captain of a Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight and the aircraft entered a steep descent. Other pilots aboard helped land it safely in Saudi Arabia. Investigators are examining the motive; terrorism has not been established as the cause.

A State Department letter obtained by Reuters says the US waived human-rights conditions on $320 million in military aid to Egypt. The waiver cites national-security interests and Egypt's helpful role after the US campaign against Iran. Neither government immediately commented.
